Dental Bridges

What are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is a type of restoration that replaces one or more teeth in the mouth. If you’re missing a tooth, the bridge will attach to the two surrounding teeth while the middle part of the bridge simply sits on the gum line replacing what’s missing. Bridges can last for years and even a few decades before replacement is necessary. They are made to look realistic, and they improve the function and appearance of your smile.

Why would Dental Bridges be needed?

If you’re missing a tooth, we often recommend a dental bridge to close the gap where the tooth is missing. Bridges help to improve the look of your smile while helping with oral functioning. This makes it easier for you to eat and chew your favorite foods without the gaps in your smile becoming a problem. You will feel more confident in the way that you look thanks to the beauty and resiliency of your new bridge work.

Who is a candidate for Dental Bridges?

We examine your teeth and mouth to determine if you might need a bridge. Bridges are best suited to adults who aren’t good candidates for dental implants. They are not removable, so they’re completely different when compared to a partial denture. Bridges are custom made, so they can replace more than just one missing tooth with one restoration.

What happens during the Dental Bridge procedure?

We start the procedure with local anesthetic to numb the area. We then file down the surrounding two teeth so that there is more than enough room for the bridge to sit on top. Impressions are then taken to be used to craft the brand new dental bridge. The second visit into our office involves actually placing the bridge. We make some small adjustments to the bridge to improve the fit and bite. You can even come into the office if you need an older bridge replaced with a new one.
